Islands such as North Captiva, Lovers Keys, Useppa and Cabbage provide some of the best sight-seeing around. These islands are inhabited by only a few individuals on the average and are largely unspoiled. The amount of life to be seen in the Gulf of Mexico is truly astounding. On the shores of these islands, one will find many different species of shells that beg to be examined and explored. Of course, simply enjoying some of the long and largely empty beaches is one of the best pastimes imaginable.
Day trips in Florida oftentimes mean a journey defined by golf. There are numerous golf courses on both the islands and in the larger Fort Myers area. These courses, like all Florida golf courses, offer excellent play in a beautiful environment. They make excellent destinations for day trips. Florida also offers some excellent destinations which aren’t readily apparent. For instance, the causeway that leads from the mainland to Sanibel has excellent fishing spots and some nice beaches. These make a fun day trip when one doesn’t wish to travel too far.
